Nabshot Privacy Policy

Nabshot · Last updated: July 16, 2026

Short version: Nabshot does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. Every capture is processed and kept on your own device, and nothing is ever uploaded.

What we collect

Nothing. Nabshot does not collect or transmit any personal information, browsing history, or usage analytics. The developer has no servers and receives no data from your use of the extension. Nabshot makes no network requests of any kind: there is no code anywhere in it that contacts the internet, so nothing about you or what you capture is ever sent to the developer or any third party.

How a capture works

Nabshot only does anything when you ask it to, by clicking a capture button or using a keyboard shortcut. It then takes a screenshot of the visible tab, a region you drag, or the full scrolling page, and builds the image in your browser using the Canvas API. The finished image opens in an editor tab where you can annotate it, then copy it to your clipboard or save it as a PNG or JPEG. It does not read your passwords, form fields, or browsing history.

What is stored, and where

Your settings (save format, JPEG quality, full-page frame delay, and recent colors) are stored only on your own computer using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local), and your theme choice is stored in the browser's localStorage. Nabshot does not keep a library of your screenshots: a capture is handed to the editor and removed from storage the moment the editor loads it, and the image is only kept if you choose to save or copy it yourself. Nothing ever leaves your device, there is no account, and nothing is synced to the cloud.

Permissions and why they are needed

  • Active tab and scripting: to capture the tab you are on when you trigger a capture, to draw the drag-to-select overlay for a region capture, and to scroll the page and read its size for a full-page capture. Nabshot only touches a page when you start a capture on it.
  • Storage / unlimited storage: to keep your settings and to briefly hand a finished capture to the editor. Unlimited storage lets a large full-page capture pass through without hitting a size cap.
  • Clipboard: to copy a screenshot to your clipboard when you click Copy.

Nabshot requests no access to any website's data and has no host permissions. None of these permissions is used to read, collect, or send your data anywhere.

Third parties

Nabshot does not share data with any third party, because it does not collect any. The optional "Donate" link opens an external page (Ko-fi) only if you click it; any payment there is handled by that service under its own privacy policy.

Children

Nabshot is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
