Woofer Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

Short version: Woofer does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. Everything happens locally in your browser.

What we collect

Nothing. Woofer does not collect or transmit any personal information, browsing history, or usage analytics. The developer has no servers and receives no data from your use of the extension.

Settings stored on your device

If you choose to save a volume or equalizer preset, that setting is stored only on your own computer using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage). It never leaves your device and is used solely to restore your chosen settings. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.

Permissions and why they are needed

  • Access to websites: required to adjust the audio volume of the page you are listening to, including tabs playing in the background. The extension only affects a page's audio when you change a control.
  • Tabs: to list the tabs that are currently playing audio and to mute or un-mute a tab at your request.
  • Scripting: to apply the volume change inside a page that was already open when the extension loaded.
  • Storage: to save your presets locally, as described above.

None of these permissions are used to read, collect, or send your data.

Third parties

Woofer does not share data with any third party, because it does not collect any. The optional "Donate" link opens an external page (Ko-fi) only if you click it; any payment there is handled by that service under its own privacy policy.

Children

The extension is a general-purpose audio utility and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
